Turning to Look...
“Now that I look back, I don't know why I was so stressed about it all this time. Funny how sometimes you worry a lot about something and it turns out to be nothing.” R. J. Palacio
I am finishing up work for the show in Iowa at the Bereskin Art Gallery. I am sending a large painting and about 10-12 small ones. I have four to finish, and this is the first one I am working on. I entitled it “Turning to Look”
Terry always told me when driving pay attention to what is ahead. I believe that is true of life as well. You cannot change things from the past, you can only move on to the future. When you look back you often are often affected by the way things ‘might have been’, or by old emotions or words spoken that affected others.
There is wisdom in living in this moment because you cannot change what was. Today we live in a world filled with schedules, social media, anxiety, stress and a fog of unhappiness. Feeling unworthy and exhausted seems to be the norm. When you are overwhelmed with this you have the tendency to think back to the past because the future is so complex and creates sadness in side of you. The past seems that it cannot harm you… to go back to those days and memories of fun and laughter.
It takes conscious awareness and commitment to live your life in the now… and the commitment to simplify your life. You do not have to turn and look back. Look forward as you move forward. God beckons.
“That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10
