Later this month I am excited about returning to the Lake Highlands area of Dallas for an art show with three other women.  It is the Colors of Lake Highlands.  While I wish there had been more lead in time to create new paintings, I do have six or seven debuting in the show.

On the Prowl . Watch out for the dark wild woods at night . Ripening Personalities . Laurie Pace

Ripening Personalities.  Every layer of experience that touches us shapes us as we learn and grow. It is so evident in paintings like this. The original painting contributing totally to the final painting and yet 180 degrees different. The wolves gained in strength as I resurfaced bold strokes of color with my knife and established a sense of movement in the air around them. Definitely would not want to meet these two in the woods at night.

GUESS WHAT?  Colors Swirling - Paint Flying . My music is too Loud? . Wolf Factor . Laurie Pace

I worked that night wiping, carving and restructuring the canvas.  I really felt drawn to the earthtones as it blended out.  Tomorrow I will post the final painting of the wolves. I love sharing the progress so you see making mistakes or trying again is part of the artistic process for me. It was the little painting guy Bob Ross that said, "We don't make mistakes, just happy accidents."

Proceed with care... you never know what is lurking in the woods!  Seriously I just finished this painting last week and took images of it while it was still wet, so this is a bit blurry I am sure.  This is one of my wildlife wolf paintings done in the same style as my painted pony pulls.  I actually started it as a commission in late December; I only do a few of these each year and most sell from my galleries.  As I began the painting, things changed for the collector; I decided to finish the piece up and list it here on my website.
