The Beauty of our Dreams

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt

June first suddenly appeared on the calendar this morning. WOW... summer has truly begun.  I almost used a different quotes this morning... “Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia. (...) You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.” ― John Green, Looking for Alaska...

This painting though called out for Eleanor's quote.  Me... my brain settled in around the 'stuck' part of always trying to get to the 'better' part of life...where things are working and every one is much I miss out on ALL THE BLESSINGS I have right now and the happiness around me.  I do NOT want to escape the present. I want to be present in the present, aware of all around me, the gifts I have been given, the family love that surrounds me and the contributions I can make this day to share a smile, share the load of work, go out of my way to help someone in need, get out of my comfort zone and step out to life and live it... that list can go on, but as long as it remains a list, I remain lost in the moment, paralyzed by future...and never moving forward.

Hot weather is not a top favorite of mine; but the ocean is...what I feel is God when I stand embracing the wind, with sand biting at my legs, waves gently pulsing up over my toes and feet... the waves rhythmically racing toward me and the tide inviting me out. God's forces at work sometimes are overpowering and at the beach I stand in awe and amazement feeling like I am seeing God in His finest. At sunset it feels like the moments are filled with the splendor of His infinite glory and power.  That is what I had hoped to capture in this painting above, which is available. A young child just watching the ebb and tide of the ocean before her... endless thoughts... endless beauty...endless GOD.

You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God! Psalm 68:35
