The Splendor of Spring

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm.  If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.” ― Thérèse de Lisieux

It was a challenging week. With so much time off from painting since mid last summer... only commissions and a few pieces here and there, painting again is like starting over.  The most important thing about any skill is to do it daily.  Lots of thoughts and praying going on right now.  Everyday's a new day and a new opportunity to grow and try new things. Be it on my canvas, in my attitude or bravely stepping out into something new, I have to trust God.

I love the quote today about "if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose spring would lose its loveliness."  That covers each of us. We cannot be like someone else, we have to authentically be ourselves.  Hard as it might be at times, we must learn to trust our inner being and like ourselves.

I spoke to a sorority sister last weekend on the phone. She is on the edge of stepping out to something she has dreamed about for years but NEVER said a word to anyone. She was afraid to.  She knew she had this dream but she wanted to be pursuing it because it was part of God's plan and not necessarily just her dream following her own determination.  I admire her for waiting until she felt it was time.

Follow your dreams but pray first!

"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”  Matthew 21:22
