Make More Room . Love Expanding . New Babies . Lost Children . Real Life . Art We welcomed a new granddaughter to our family last weekend. She arrived January 30th, just missing the month of February. February is our family LOVE MONTH. While I realize it is Valentine's Month, we go deeper than that. My parents were married in February. My daughter was born in February. Our oldest Grandson died in February at age 11, eight years ago. His little sister was born in February two years later. When we found out there was a little one on the way last year and the due date was February 9th... we eagerly anticipated another February birthday, but she did not wait that long. She was eager to arrive.

First I have to celebrate our grandson Grant. He was a joyful child and the loss affects us still today. He could put a smile on anyone's face and he enjoyed reading and playing and just being with family. He loved life.
His death was unexpected. He had a very mild case of the flu and was on the mend when he went into convulsions and the paramedics were called. The emptiness in our lives was enormous until Lady L was born two years later. Now six years later she welcomes a baby sister and we feel Grant's presence even stronger.
Lady M came screaming into this world at 21 inches. She is going to be tall! She weighed in just under seven pounds with a head of dark hair. Still trying to figure that one out as usually our babies are bald. Lady L has been my mini me. Makes me quiet when I wonder what beauty is wrapped up in this new sweet little bundle. She is vocal and very much a cuddle bunny. We know Grant is looking down from heaven smiling at his two younger sisters.
Lady L and I will have to make more room in the studio for another easel. It will be a child easel at first but if she is anything like her older sister, it will be a full easel in just a few years. Love expands when hearts and arms are open to receive. Real life is filled with emotions and experience that take you high one moment and low the next. We have to learn to hang on to God during the rough weather and lean on Him when we feel weak. He cradles us in his arms just as Lady L cradles her new baby sister.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2
