Running the Ridge at Dusk... the beginnings

24 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas

I promised to catch you up so I will begin today with the sketch on the canvas. As I mentioned in a prior writing, I sketched this onto the surface last week and had intentions of painting Friday last week and then of course hopeful for the weekend and it never happened.  Finally on Monday I was able to block in the values and Tuesday I began painting.

Yesterday, Tuesday, when I got up I headed into the studio and began painting.  You will see images tomorrow of this... and worked for about three hours total. The days happenings always change during the course of the day.  The one thing you can count on in life is change.  The important thing is learning to roll with the change, or finding ways to adapt and embrace change.  Change comes at you constantly and the most important thing is not the change itself but how you respond to it.

One phone call yesterday changed the course of the entire day. Part of me filled with dismay that I would not be back painting right away after lunch. The other part was excited to see an old friend we had not visited with in person since 2010.  Terry prepared a yummy lunch and he arrived and the day was suddenly filled with friendship and laughter.

Painting happened again after dinner and I worked until after eight, but it was too late and too dark to shoot images. It was that good painting time where you get lost into the colors, values and layering so much that you do not want to quit... you just want to press on.

So no matter what comes at you this day, take a few deep breaths and roll with the change. Press on.  God has got you covered. You have the choice of how you will respond to life and to people.

Shalom Aleichem  (it means Peace be upon you.)
