“The present changes the past. Looking back you do not find what you left behind.” Kiran Desai

When I was looking back through paintings from 2014, I came across this painting.   I actually loved this painting almost as it sits in the photo above. The entire powerful story is here. BUT...

When you do a commission some people are focused on what they want and not always what I want as the artist, which I get, but at the same time, this painting was powerful.  Shoulda Coulda.  I should have kept it and started a new one for them. I do not have regrets, but a tiny bit of sorrow. I know this was part of the process to get to what they envisioned.  A traditional sail boat.

I think this happens to people as well. God creates us in a perfect combination for what he hopes we will be and use in our lifetime.  Next thought is, do we use it to his honor or do we do it all our way?

I am painting new things this week continuing with my mentor study.  I am blown away by the support of many of you in your emails to me. It truly is not just a blessing but an inspiration.  I had missed three months of newsletter because of life and when I sent my last one out,  three painting sold from my website.  The money came at a needed time since we are working still on my outdoor painting area while dealing with drainage issues in the back yard. I think we are set in two weeks for the contractor to come and begin work on the cedar back covered porch.

High hopes as we go... this was the top priority with our drainage issue.  Next replacing windows and replacing the broken fireplace that has not been used in two years.  One at a time, hubby makes advances!
