Are You Awake or Dreaming? . . .

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” ― C.G. Jung

This is one of those quotes you need over your bathroom mirror when you get up each morning. It is too easy to look outside of ourselves and busy ourselves with 'things' and avoid facing reality. Living to grasp life at its fullest is rare these days. Too much time distracted by computers, phones and ipads. No longer do we consider face to face conversations valuable, or handwriting a letter. Even in our schools they are NOT teaching handwriting. It has become a lost art.

I have begun to wonder about civility. With the stormy year past of 2016, I have watched family relationships and friendships fall to the wayside without thought to the loss. Words fly on FB like harsh lashing debates and echoes of ME ME ME.  No civility, no humanity, no consideration and no love.  Everyone ones to be heard as their hate echos through empty halls where no one listens anymore.  We choose what we let in our lives and our hearts.

There is another quote I will slide in here that i love.

“Look into your own heart, discover what it is that gives you pain and then refuse, under any circumstance whatsoever, to inflict that pain on anybody else.”― Karen Armstrong

Seems to really apply to the reason of this painting. The Calm after the Storm.  When you examine your heart you face reality. You have choices on your actions and words as you go forward. Do you carry the storm with you?

"Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy." Proverbs 12:20.
